4 months old!

So I have been complaining that my back has been hurting lately. I knew Colton was getting heavy and in his car seat he was almost 45 lbs. Well Colton went to the Pediatrician today and he is in the 95% for weight. Weighing in at 17lbs 13oz. I sure do love my chunky monkey. He is 25 inches long and he got an A+ for development on his physical exam!

Way to go Colt!

Christmas 2010

Colton got to experience our Christmas Extravaganza this year, and if you ask me he loved it!

We loaded up and headed to my mom's house on the 23rd. We celebrated Christmas with her and Bill on Christmas eve morning. We attempted church at 5:30 and that lasted about 30 minutes. It was Colton's nap time and he was not wanting to be held so Chaz and I headed north.
We went by the Dupre's house ( Jess's boyfriend's parents) to say hello to them. They have an annual Christmas eve celebration with friends and family, it was a good time.
On Christmas morning we opened gifts at home, then loaded up and headed to my Dad's to celebrate with the fam and all of my step moms family.
We ate at ton of great food and we all got lots of cool new things and Colton got a bunch of new toys.
I love Christmas time, happy birthday Jesus!

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and remembered the reason for the season. Have a safe and happy New Year.

Santa!

Last December when I was only a few weeks pregnant I was out and about shopping and ran across Santa outfits for boys and girls. Not knowing what we were having I bought one of each. On Thursday I got geared up and took Colton to see Santa. Thankfully my boy is well fed because the outfit was 6-9 month. I couldn't look at Colton with out laughing at him while he was dressed at Santa, he was a big hit at the mall too!
Here are a few pictures of Colton as Santa and with Santa.

Colton's normal!

It's so good to be home and to have Colton back on his routine. Chaz, Colton and I went Orlando to visit Chaz's family for Thanksgiving. It was great seeing everyone and everyone got to meet Colton. We got home on Monday and on Wednesday we flew out to Vegas for a Ford trip Chaz won. Colton was a champ on all of the plane rides, he did so great.

Colton and I went to a Gastro- Intestinal doctor this morning to see what we could do about the excessive amount of throw up Colton has. My Pediatrician recommended him and come to find out he is perfectly fine! I had a feeling that he was but a few were convinced there was something wrong. Thankfully he is fine he just has a strong stomach and likes to puke! It should get better with time and should stop altogether in 8 months, so bare with him and I apologize in advance if he pukes on you the next time you hold him!

On a positive note he is gaining weight, he weighed in at 16.9 lbs this morning!

A few weeks ago we went to the Arboretum and took some pictures for our Christmas cards, here are a few of my favorites!

Enjoy

I am so Thankful!

In honor of Thanksgiving I thought I would share a few things I am thankful for!

1. For my beautiful, healthy and happy baby boy.
2. My wonderful husband who makes me laugh everyday and who works his booty off to provide for Colton and I
3. All of my wonderful parents, siblings and friends who are all so helpful with Colton
4. Caffeine
5. Being 90% done with my Christmas shopping
6. YOU!

Colton was 3 months old yesterday. I found these awesome stickers that you peel off and can put on a onesie, I love them. Here a couple of pictures from yesterday.

here's the video!

Thumb sucker!

Colton loves his pacifier, in fact I never leave home with out at least one. He uses the soothie pacifiers and I found some that have stuffed animals attached to them, he has a frog, bear, duck, puppy... they are called wubbanubs!  They are great because he learned how to hold on to the animal and I could tuck the animal into his car seat or prop it up under neath a blanket. Colton has always been very fond of his hands, he hated to have them swaddled and every time you look they are in little fists up by his face. Recently he has been trying to suck on his hand when a pacifier wasn't around and that helped to soothe him. A few days ago I saw him sucking his thumb, I am partial but I think it is so adorable. The last few nights he has been sleeping upstairs in his crib, i have a video monitor and have watched his pacifier fall out and in goes the thumb! I love it, it has saved me a ton of trips up the stairs.

So Proud!

Colton is getting so big!! 1st things 1st my baby boy is sleeping through the night... let the angels sing Hallelujah Hallelujah!!! It happened the night of the 11th, my lactating breast woke me up around 5 and I started to panic. I ran into the guest bedroom to make sure he was still breathing and there he was sleeping like a little angel! I couldn't believe it! After reading 3 different books about sleeping and following what they said our hard work and many of Colton's tears, it paid off! He now goes to bed around 9 and either wakes up at 7 and is up for good or wakes up at 6 I feed him and then he sleeps til 9! I love those morning!

Above is a video of him from yesterday he has starting kicking and swinging his arms a ton. Also he has started cooing a lot, which I absolutely love! His little voice is so precious. Hope you enjoy the video!

I know mom's say this all of the time but for some reason I was a little emotional yesterday and while I was reading to him "I'll love you forever" before I put him to bed I started to cry. Looking down at this little boy we created I now understand the meaning of unconditional love and I now understand what it means when my mom said she would walk through fire for my sister or I, because I would do the same for Colton, I love him so much he brings such joy to my life every day.

He just pooped all over the place, lovely ending to my story... gotta go!

Colton's Baptism

Colton was Baptized this past Sunday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, it was a beautiful ceremony and he was a champ! It was extra special because Ft. Tom, the priest who married Chaz and I, was able to baptize Colton. We had a luncheon afterwards and it was a great turn out. Thanks to all of our friends and family who were able to make it out and support our little Booger!

My sweet little family!

Baby Wise begins today!!!!

After not sleeping well the last month of my pregnancy and now having Colton in my life for 7 weeks, I have slept no more then 4 hours in a row.
I knew I had to do something about it when Brandy called on Monday and asked how I was doing and I started to cry... I am exhausted! It didn't help any that I went to volleyball yesterday and a friend of mine who had her son 3 days after Colton was there, I asked her how she and the baby were and she replied, "great he slept for 9 hours in a row last night" I wanted to throw the volleyball at her!
I had heard about Baby Wise when I was pregnant but didn't read it until last night. I read half of the book and needless to say the new routine started today. So far so good.
I also posted a comment on Facebook about it and got a ton of positive comments and messages about how it has worked for other peoples kids.
I have nothing to lose at this point and I am beyond determined to get him sleeping at night! Wish me luck, I'll keep you posted!

Here he is at 7 weeks, our Chunky Booger!

1 month old!

I can't believe Colton is already 1 month old. We went to the doctor yesterday for a check up and he weighed in at 9lbs 13oz. His pediatrician was very proud of him!
He goes down for about 4 hours the 1st time I put him down at night but then the rest of the night is a gamble. He tends to be fussy around 9 pm... just in time for his daddy! He likes to head bang when I am holding him and he will support his neck when he is being curious.

Chaz has been great this past month, he actually snoozed on the couch with him last night for about 3 hours so I could get some sleep, and he is still changing stinky diapers! Everyone has been so helpful, I couldn't have made it through the past month with out my amazing family.

He loves his hands!

1 week old!

My loving mother has been with me the past week
and we have gotten so much done and I have been able to get a lot of rest, which I am very thankful for. Chaz has never been fed this well either, so he too is thrilled.
Here are some pictures of Colton's first week of life!

Enjoy.

3 more days!!!!

I can't believe the time has come. These past few weeks have flown by and I feel more ready then ever for his arrival!
Everything is washed and put away, diaper caddy's are placed around the house, all of the toys are put together and wiped down, batteries are in all of the noisy toys and his bassinet is put together and on my side of the bed waiting for him.
I had my last and final doctors appointment this morning, he is still nice and snuggled up with my ribs but he is head down, still very active and I am dilated to a 2. Thankfully my amazing doctor is on call this weekend so if Booger decides to grace us with his presence I have piece of mind knowing she would be there for the delivery.
If all goes as planned Chaz and I will be checking into the hospital on Sunday evening and Boog will be here Monday. We can't wait, I will be sure to keep everyone posted!

Gotta love the general public!!!

Who knew this belly I have would be such a conversation starter. I have received the most random comments from people just being out and about.
First and foremost everyone is determined that I am having a girl, I guess because I am carrying high and he hasn't dropped. Some people are so adamant about it that I wish I carried around the pictures of his manly parts to whip out and show them just to shut them up.
Last week I was picking up Chaz's dry cleaning and the guy came out to get my card and said "are you having twins" I kindly replied "no just one", he came back with, "wow I'm shocked because your huge".... who says that and how in the world do you respond?
Another classic moment happened this past Saturday, I was standing in the return line and Ross and a lady came up to me and said... (insert ghetto voice here) "Girl when you having that baby girl" I replied in about a week and it's a boy. She said "They's gonna have to cut him out of you cause you ain't got no hips"At this point all I could do was laugh and say thanks!

Counting down the days.

According to my handy "What to expect when your expecting" app on my phone I have been pregnant for 269 days. I recommend this app for anyone that gets pregnant, it has been very helpful and extremely accurate when telling me about symptoms I should or will soon be experiencing. It also gives you a weekly update on the changes your body will be experiencing and on the growth of your baby. Plus it beats the heck out of reading a 400 page book that sometimes gives you too many details.

I went to the doctor yesterday and for the 1st time I felt sorry for Booger. During my sonogram as she was checking everything she scanned his head and I had a perfect shot of his face. He was looking straight up, so I felt like he was looking at me saying "help". The poor guy looked so squished, if he only knew that he is more then welcome to join his dad and I at home when ever he pleases, both of us would be much more comfortable.

Maternity Pictures

I wasn't planning on taking any maternity pictures because I didn't think I would want to display them or look back on any pictures of my big belly. The closer it got the more I wanted to take them. I looked on Facebook and saw that one of my sorority sisters was just starting out at photography. I contacted her and we were able to set up a time on Sunday so Chaz could be in the pictures. He was such a trooper, it was late in the evening but almost 90 outside.
I am so happy with the way the pictures came out. Thank you Kari! Hope you like the photos.

This is my favorite, you can't see my belly but I love it of Chaz and I.

I feel like such a mom already....

Who would have ever thought that I would have a blog??? Not me. I never really had anything that exciting to write about or brag about, but life, it is a changing.  2 weeks from today, if not earlier, Chaz and I will be on our way to Presby Plano to turn our family of 2 into 3.

I have so many mixed emotions.

I couldn't be more excited to see my little boy's face. I cannot wait to hold him. The question of the month is what is he going to look like? I lay awake at night, because I no longer sleep, thinking about it. As far as we are concerned he is healthy, we have counted 10 fingers, 10 toes, all of his organs are developed and functioning normally and he has his manly parts.

I am scared that something might go wrong, about the change we are about to experience in our everyday lives and that he might be colic.

Keep us in your thoughts and prayers over the next few weeks and I will keep you updated on Colton!
